Caps and gowns must be worn by all in-person ceremony participants.  Please review the university’s Adornment Policy as it relates to regalia (cap and gown) during Commencement.  

Important information regarding ordering your regalia:

PhD degree:

There are two options available if you would like to receive your Doctoral regalia.

1. You can order your rental regalia and have it shipped to Vanderbilt University for on-campus pick-up May 7-9, 8:30 am to 7:00 pm.  Rental regalia can be returned to Vanderbilt Bookstore on May 10-14. The cost of rental regalia is covered by the Graduate School.
2. You can purchase your fine-quality Vanderbilt University regalia to be shipped to your home address. The Graduate School covers $200 towards the purchase of regalia; you will receive a $200 discount on the regular price of $905.98.

Ship to Vanderbilt Deadline – March 29, 2024

Graduates who do not order regalia by the deadlines listed above will need to order during regalia distribution at the Vanderbilt Bookstore May 7-10 and will incur a $10 late fee.

Ship to Home Fine Quality Deadline - March 1, 2024

  Students MUST have regalia to walk in the ceremony without exception.
